What is

ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING

Assessment for learning (AFL) is an approach to teaching and learning that creates feedback which is then used to improve students’ performance. Students become more involved in the learning process and from this gain confidence in what they are expected to learn and to what standard.

At INtuition, we use a consistent testing approach where students answer a mock examination every week. We mark the past examination paper from IGCSE or A level and scan it in to go through every point that needs extra discussion and reflection. The process is then repeated with the hope that some of the questions previously answered incorrectly are now answered correctly and the process continues.

Our students have bought into the process and as the grades increase the students’ enjoyment increases as a result and the forward momentum continues.

Mr. Steven is the best math teacher i’ve ever had, i’ve never been able to learn so much math in only one lesson. Ms. Sama is an amazing biology teacher, she’s always so positive and explains everything again if i don’t understand the topic. Ms. Amina is an excellent sociology and psychology teacher, she made reading and doing presentations fun for me when they used to be things i hate. Mr Kevin was teaching me physics, and he was really patient with me even though i couldn’t remember most of the formulas and concepts. Mr. Ali is also a great english teacher, somehow he managed to make a really boring subject really fun.

My teacher, Ms Sawin, teaches me science. Which also happens to be my worst subject. My grades were F's and D's. Though after intuition, even though not perfect, I started getting A's and B's.
